Ok, we all have those recipes we grew up eating and will always love. My meaty cream of mushroom sauce recipe is my chef’s spin on a classic. The classic utilizes many canned ingredients and is what I personally make for my kids. But on occasion, you want to “class things up” a little and make it from scratch! Mom’s Original Ground Beef Mushroom Sauce with Green Beans

- 1 can Cream of mushroom soup
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 1/2 cups milk
- 1 can Green Beans
- 2 cups Rice

Directions
- In a large sauté pan brown meat and season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in the cream of mushroom soup (add the water or milk till desired consistency)
- Drain the green beans and stir into a creamy soup mixture.
- Heat through and serve over steamed rice.

Meaty Cream of Mushroom Sauce Over Rice
This is my absolute favorite comfort food right here!!! I grew up with a very similar dish using canned ingredients we always had on hand. Now as an adult I have taken this classic staple and elevated it to please the pickiest of eaters. I know this dish will warm your heart and fill your bellies!

Meaty Mushroom Cream Sauce Over Rice
Equipment
- sauté pan
Ingredients
4-5 Mushrooms Sliced
1 Shallot diced
3 Oz. Unsalted Butter Room temp.
1 Lemon Cut in half for juicing
1 can Green beans fresh or canned work
1 Pt. Heavy cream
5 Oz. Sweet Italian sausage Whatever you have on hand
Instructions
In a large sauté pan brown meat and season with salt and pepper, set aside.
If using fresh green beans steam or sauté till al-dente and set aside. (this may be an unpopular opinion, but I love canned green beans so do not feel bad if you want to use those in the future)
In the same pan melt butter with a splash of oil Saute shallots till fragrant. Add mushrooms with a squeeze of lemon juice and salt.
Once the mushrooms and shallots are caramelized add in the ground meat, heavy cream and fresh thyme bring to a simmer, and reduce till thickened. Then add in the green beans to heat through.
Serve over rice.

Pressure Cooker Rice - Instant Pot Rice
Equipment
- Pressure Cooker or Instant Pot
Ingredients
2 Cups White long grain rice
3 Cups water
2 Tbsp. Chicken bouillon
Instructions
- High pressure for 3 min.
- Natural release for 10 min.
- Open the hatch and fluff rice.
- Allow to rest a few mins before serving.
